Groundwater Quality Study Committee
The Groundwater Quality Study Committee seeks to evaluate existing water quality data on nitrates and other potential contaminants, fills data gaps, provides analysis of the data, and explores land use planning implications. Committee responsibilities include engagement in a collaborative study process which includes the following activities: develop and refine a scope of work and budget, provide input on a request for proposals to conduct the study and consultant selection, provide data for the study, help identify data gaps to be addressed by the study, review and make recommendations regarding consultant work products, and deliver study recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners. The committee consists of 14 voting members representing areas of the scientific community, development industry, building industry, agricultural community, and the community-at-large. Voting members serve for two-year terms. Additionally, the committee includes five ex-officio or non-voting members from El Paso County staff and the El Paso County Planning Commission who serve indefinite terms. Meetings are held on the second Monday of the month at 1:30 p.m. at the Pikes Peak Regional Development Center, 2880 International Circle, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
