Park Advisory Board

The Park Advisory Board reviews and comments on items and proposals related to park department policies, philosophies and objectives, and makes formal recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners. The Board consists of nine members appointed by the Board of County Commissioners for three-year terms. The Park Advisory Board meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 1:30 p.m. at Centennial Hall, 200 S. Cascade Avenue.

Park Fee Advisory Committee

The Park Fee Advisory Committee meets from September through December of each year to establish a fair and equitable park fee schedule. The committee consists of five members appointed by the Board of County Commissioners for three-year terms. The Park Fee Advisory Committee meets in October of each year. The date, time, and location are to be determined.

Fair and Events Complex Advisory Board

The El Paso County Fair & Events Complex Advisory Board assists with the development, management, programming, operation, and maintenance of the Fair and Events Complex in Calhan. Board members also help to produce the annual County Fair. The board consists of nine regular members appointed by the Board of County Commissioners for three-year terms. An unspecified number of associate members may be appointed for one-year terms. The Fair Advisory Board meets on the third Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the County Fairgrounds, 366 10th Street, Calhan, Colorado.

Fairgrounds Corporation

The Fairgrounds Corporation is a non-profit corporation established by the El Paso County Board of Commissioners to acquire, manage and/or hold a liquor license assigned to the El Paso County Fairgrounds; to coordinate the use of the El Paso County Fairgrounds for special events during which the consumption of alcohol is desired; and through its operation, to provide funding to support the El Paso County Fair, the El Paso County Fair and Events Complex, and the El Paso County 4-H program. The Corporation consists of five members. Members serve a three-year term. The Fairgrounds Corporation meets on the first Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the County Fairgrounds, 366 10th Street, Calhan, Colorado.

Noxious Weed Advisory Commission

The Noxious Weed Advisory Commission advises the El Paso County Community Services Department, Environmental Division in the control, development, management, programming, operation, and maintenance of noxious weed issues. The Commission consists of three members that are appointed by the Board of County Commissioners for three-year terms; the majority (two) of the Commission members shall own at least 40 acres in unincorporated El Paso County. Commission meetings are held annually.

Groundwater Quality Study Committee

The Groundwater Quality Study Committee seeks to evaluate existing water quality data on nitrates and other potential contaminants, fills data gaps, provides analysis of the data, and explores land use planning implications. Committee responsibilities include engagement in a collaborative study process which includes the following activities: develop and refine a scope of work and budget, provide input on a request for proposals to conduct the study and consultant selection, provide data for the study, help identify data gaps to be addressed by the study, review and make recommendations regarding consultant work products, and deliver study recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners. The committee consists of 14 voting members representing areas of the scientific community, development industry, building industry, agricultural community, and the community-at-large. Voting members serve for two-year terms. Additionally, the committee includes five ex-officio or non-voting members from El Paso County staff and the El Paso County Planning Commission who serve indefinite terms. Meetings are held on the second Monday of the month at 1:30 p.m. at the Pikes Peak Regional Development Center, 2880 International Circle, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
