Fountain Creek Regional Trail Full Closure

A temporary closure of the Fountain Creek Regional Trail will begin on Monday, January 12, 2026, and continue through April 24, 2026, to allow Colorado Springs Utilities (CSU) to complete a major power line infrastructure upgrade.

Park Planning in the El Paso County Parks Department provides professional planning, landscape architecture, and project management services. The focus is on parks, trails, and open space planning and support of the annual Capital Improvement Program. Staff also provides development review comments to ensure conformance with the El Paso County Parks Master Plan, and provides expertise in long-range planning for El Paso County and regional collaborative initiatives.

Park Advisory Board Responsibilities

It is the County Park Advisory Board member’s responsibility to demonstrate an active interest in the goals, objectives, and issues involving the County’s regional parks, trails, open space, facilities, and programs.

Specific areas of responsibility requiring formal recommendation to the Board are as follows:

  • Subdivision and land development matters within the unincorporated areas of the County.
  • County Parks annual operating budget.
  • County Parks long-range goals for the acquisition and development of County regional parks, trails, open space, and facilities.
  • Issues which specifically relate to policies, philosophy and objectives involving County Parks.
